Our History

Garry Dryburgh
My parents started in dogs in
1962. In 1971 the prefix Stives was registered which was changed to
Sayantsi which today is used for the breeding of Alpacas.
In 1972 I began in junior
showmanship with my parents Samoyeds and Standard Poodles. During
this time I handled many different breeds of dogs from Great Danes
to English cockers. In 1974 my parents obtained their first Afghan
Hound, in 1975 the first import arrived from New Zealand (Samoyed
from famous Voinaika Kennels) in 1976 two influnencial Standard
Poodles arrived the first from Marilyn Willis (Springett) a grandson
of the great Bibelots Tall Darkn Handsome and the second from Wendy
& John Streatfield (Leander). Leander Luck of the Irish went on to
sire Opposite Sex Sydney Royal under respected Anne Rogers Clark,
Best In show Spring Fair and Best in Group Brisbane Royal. By the
end of 1977 as a thank you for assistance with handling of English
cockers we were given an American Cocker who was sired by Sundust
Personal Service (imp UK)
In 1977 I acquired my own
Samoyed
for the show ring. In 1978 I was given my first Afghan Hound which
was bred to the world famous Ch Calahorra Boccaccio and produced
SBIS Ch Sayantsi Marksman and BIG Ch Sayantsi Excalibur. From here I
saw and wanted Calahorra Triumph and after much negotiation I gained
him in partnership with his breeders. Today Ch Calahorra Triumph is
the sire of 10 champions including 4 American Champions, with semen
shipped to the UK.
In 1986 I purchased a son of Am
Ch Oakgrove Heavenly Sum Buddy, Multi Best in Group (Group I) Ch
Burnham Bravissimo. In 1988 I was employed to handle for Nibette
Standard Poodles, showing successful BIS SBIS Ch Nibette Dads A
Yank, and BIS Ch Nibette Bette Noire, after much success I became a
partner in these kennels. From 1978 my interest was devoted to
Afghans and Standard Poodles.
In 1992 I met Danielle and we
formed our now prefix of Tezer in 1994.

Danielle Dryburgh (nee Long)
I'm also a second-generation dog
enthusiast. My parents began showing in 1973. In 1974 we registered
Peerielee Shetland Sheepdogs. I began showing dogs at 3yrs in under
7 junior showmanship classes. I went on to become one of the top
juniors in Australia, winning junior showmanship classes in
Australia as well as New Zealand. In 1987 I became the top junior in
NSW and went on to represent my state in the Australian final. By
this time I was handling for many kennels and this helped with my
experience with many breeds from all groups from Bichon Frise to
Doberman's.
In 1987 I began showing my first
co-owned sheltie (bred by my parents) in the adult ring. She became
BIS, SBIS & SSBIS Grand Ch Peerielee Tri it My Way. In approximately
1988 I became a partner in my parents kennel. In 1990 I was given my
first whippet as a thankyou for my help handling Borzois, whippets
for Yadasar Kennels over the previous 6 years. Ch Yadasar Justfa
Kicks went on to win multi Runner up to Best in Show awards, as well
as specialty cc,s. In 1993 I obtained Ch Rothbury Knightngale from
Pauline and Iven Affleck to help establish a breeding program (but
due to restrictions with living at home she had only one litter). In
1992 I teamed up with Garry.

The Both of Us
